Where we are headed!

Well many of you know that Kelly and I have transitioned out of our position as College Pastors at The Rock Church in Castle Rock, Colorado. If you didn't know that...bummer...here is the story!

In the midst of all of this transition we have been praying and asking God for clarity and wisdom about what our next season of life was going to be, or even where it would be. For several weeks all we had was questions, lots of questions.

In the middle of all of those questions and this season of transition there has been an incredible peace in our hearts. At times we have looked at one another and asked if it was OK that we had this much peace, or should we be freaking out and working to make something happen.

When we moved to Colorado in 2010 it was a total God thing. Every aspect of our move was taken care of and literally God made the way for us to be at The Rock Church. In this last season of transition our prayer has been that our faithful God would do that again. That wherever He wanted us to be everything would fall into place and we wouldn't have to fight to make anything happen.

A few weeks after we had decided that it was time to begin our transition, I found a church that was looking for a position and applied, thinking that there is no way this is going to happen, or that this is what God wanted us to do.

In all of this I have learned a ton about the difference between expectations and expectancy. Pastor Danny Silk started this journey for me, but God has taught me a ton over the last few weeks and months.

Expectations create a box and a set of things that God must do, it places hope in God's actions.

Expectancy is based on God's character and places its hope in God's character but leaves how he does things up to him.

The way God does things changes, read through the Bible cover to cover and you will see this clearly, however all through out the scriptures the character of God never changes.

I learned and I am still learning to choose expectancy over expectations. I applied for this position and through a series of conversations and crazy moments God opened the door for Kelly and I to accept a position at Trinity Church in Lubbock, Texas. Kelly and I both grew up in the area and I have been cheering for the Texas Tech Red Raiders football team for a long time, through some rough days, some very rough days!

Trinity is an incredible church full of incredible people who are working hard to advance the Kingdom of Heaven in the city of Lubbock. You can check them out HERE. We are overwhelmed at the opportunity to partner with them in what God is already doing through them.

There are way too many emotions going on in our lives at the moment to try and narrow it down to explain how we are feeling. There is excitement for new adventures, and sadness over leaving friends and family. We are excited about what God is doing and can clearly see how He has been in the middle of all of this journey from start to end.

We are excited to see what God is going to do through this new season! There have been so many God moments in this last season of our lives and we are expectant of many more to come. We will continue to keep everyone updated as our new adventure unfolds but have a very busy few weeks ahead as we pack up our house and move.
